I have yet to enroll into any writing associations, but I know there are a lot of different ones that cater to different authors. Are they really beneficial to authors?

My new mission is to enroll in a few to see what they are like and what they have to offer. In the meantime, if you are interested in becoming an active member of an writing associations you should limit your search preferences to your specific writing genre, your location (city/state), your gender (if you’re a woman) and ethnicity (if you belong to minority group).

Another thing you should keep in mind before you apply for a membership is to find out the association’s guidelines on who they admit (i.e. you may need to have certain amount of publications to be printed at a professional level before you can become a member). This kind of information should be available on the organization’s website.
